Student-Athlete Spotlight: Sam Rossetti, UW-Platteville

Why did you choose UW-Platteville?
I chose UW-Platteville because of the immediate connection I had with the volleyball team as well as the commitment of everyone I met to make my visit beneficial.



What other clubs/organizations on campus are you involved with?
I’m vice president of communications for the PSAAC (Pioneer Student Athlete Advisory Committee) on campus.

What causes are you concerned about?
I care a lot about mental health, especially mental health awareness among athletes.



What do you enjoy most about participating in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and being an NCAA Division III student-athlete?
My favorite thing about playing in the WIAC is that every team is so competitive and no game played within the conference is predictable. I love playing NCAA DIII volleyball because it gives me the opportunity to practice my sport with people as passionate as I am while being able to go through my college career.

My biggest sporting moment was beating Stevens-Point in my freshman year.



What is your favorite activity off the pitch with your teammates?
My favorite thing to do off the pitch with my teammates is eat and chat.

Hunger (to succeed).

Persistent.

What is your dream job?
My dream job is to coach Division I volleyball.



Three things on your bucket list?
—Visit Greece.
—Go hang gliding.
—Swim with sharks.



A non-athletic talent you have is?
A non-sporting talent that I have is that I can juggle.

Do you have any pre-match/pre-event superstitions or rituals? If that’s true, what are they?
Before games, I always listen to the song “Unwritten” while I have my hair braided and I always have to give high fives to my teammates in a specific order during starting lineups.
