Isbell is an award-winning singer-songwriter who rose to prominence nationally with his 2013 fourth solo album, “Southeastern”. By then, he had already outlived The Drive-By Truckers as well as ‘alcoholism and drug addiction which led to intervention by his future wife, manager and Ryan Adams. Lucinda Williams is one of the purest American blues voices and her latest release is a collection of Tom Petty covers.

‘Sound of Music’ hits the local scene

Class Act Productions presents “The Sound of Music” which begins August 12th and ends August 22nd. Tickets cost $ 25.

Inexpensive clinic for cats, dogs

The Montgomery County Animal Shelter will be offering a low cost spay and neuter clinic August 14 for cats and dogs at the West County Community Center.

Elementary school supplies event

The organization’s goal is to deliver over 2,500 backpacks and the supplies needed to fill them up at an event they call “Backpack of Dreams”.

The Greater Houston Chamber of Commerce for People with Disabilities is hosting a Virtual Food Breakfast event from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on August 19. The event is free.

The local leader performs on stage with a band

The Magnolia Education Foundation presents a back-to-school benefit concert featuring the band Charlie Riley at 7 p.m. on August 20 at the Magnolia Event Center.

The event also includes dinner, dancing, raffles and more. Riley, a former Magnolia School Board administrator, is the Montgomery County commissioner for Ward 2, and his band’s Facebook page describes the band as “just a bunch of people playing the music we love for the people we love. we like “.
