‘Hadestown’, ‘Annie’, ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ arrive at Kentucky Center

As 2021-22 PNC Broadway at Louisville draws to a close, prepare to be transported to the twilight of the Russian Empire and the euphoria of 1920s Paris as a brave young woman sets out to uncover the mystery of her past.

“Anastasia”, a tale of romance, enchantment and intrigue from the Tony Award-winning creators of the Broadway classic “Ragtime,” runs August 2-7 at Central Kentucky, 501 W Main St. Individual tickets are on sale for the dazzling musical which tells the story of a young woman pursued by a ruthless Soviet officer determined to silence her. The adventure begins when anya (Anastasia), played by Kyla Stone, enlists the help of a dashing con man and a lovable ex-aristocrat. Together they embark on an epic adventure to help her find a home, love and family.

The new season of PNC Broadway in Louisville won’t kick off until October, but you won’t have to wait until then to enjoy a Broadway hit. As the curtain falls on “Anastasia,” the lights come on for the premiere of the Tony Award-winning production of “Little shredded pill.”

PNC Broadway at Louisvillein partnership with Kentucky Performing Arts, recently announced the upcoming Louisville premiere of the new musical, which is inspired by the seven-time Grammy Award winner’s seminal rock album of the same name. Alanis Morissette. Directed by Tony Award winner Diane Paulus (“Waitress,” “Pippin apple“) “Jagged Little Pill” is about a perfectly flawed American family. The Hollywood Reporter called it “electrifying, visceral, and jaw-dropping.”

“We are so fortunate to have our amazing partners, PNC Broadway in Louisville, who bring Broadway’s most exciting shows right here to our own backyard,” said Kim Baker, President and CEO of Kentucky Performing. Jagged Little Pill’s creative team includes choreography by frequent Beyonce collaborator Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui (“Apesh*it”, “Love Drought/Sandcastles”) and an onstage band supervised by Tom Kitt (“next to normal,” “american idiot“). The team also includes set design by Riccardo Hernandez (“Parade“) costume design by Emily Rebholz (“Dear Evan Hansen“) lighting design by Justin Tomsend (“Red Mill!“) sound design by Jonathan Deans (“Waitress”) and video design by Lucy Mackinnon (“spring awakening“) and hair, wig and makeup by J. Jared Janas (“sunset boulevard.”)

With the wraps of “Anastasia” and “Jagged Little Pill,” there are less than two months until the new season of the PNC Broadway series. The 2022-23 season features an impressive lineup topped by “Hadesville,” “A pretty woman” “Anne,” and “Kill a mockingbird.”

The six-show season begins October 18 with “fiddler on the roof” followed by “Pretty Woman: The Musical” from Nov. 29 to Dec. 4. Then it’s “Anne,” February 14-19, 2023,”Aint Too Proud: The Life and Times of Temptations“April 11-16, 2023,”Hadesville“May 16-21, 2023,”Harper Lee kills a mockingbird“, closing the season from June 20 to 25, 2023.

The upcoming season also features big name stars in some of the touring domestic productions. Spectators will be treated not only Richard Thomas in “To Kill A Mockingbird”, but also AdamPascal (“Rent,” “School of Rock,” Disney’s “Aida”), who stars in “Pretty Woman: The Musical.”

Season tickets for the 2022-23 PNC Broadway Louisville season are now on sale.
