Downtown Cleveland Alliance launches summer concert series
There is perhaps nothing better than spending an evening listening to live music outside. So, Cleveland Downtown Alliance (DAC), Drift managementand businesses in the city center have joined forces to provide music on malls in downtown Cleveland – starting tomorrow, Wednesday, June 8, with Cats on vacationa roots-based swamp pop band that mixes Texas and Louisiana blues with rock and zydeco, along with original songs and poetry about city life.
This free 13-week music series brings live music to Shopping Center C every Wednesday night from June 8 through August 3, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and will feature live music, plenty of outdoor seating, and food trucks.
On select dates, including June 15 and 29, Music on the Malls is partnering with Cleveland Police Division Mindfulness Group to present free yoga classes at 4:30 p.m.
Grab takeout from your favorite Cleveland restaurant, enjoy a drink and choose a spot on the lawn to listen to the incredible line-up of summer shows. In addition to Cats on Holiday, the other shows are:
June 15: Papa Longlegs Vintage Renaissance
Daddy Longlegs Homegrown Revival weaves a rich tapestry of musical genres from every corner of the world, backed by live performance artists on stage. A jazzy mix of Middle Eastern Afro-funk, Latin, reggae, French cafe, Americana, rock, soul and gospel.
June 22: Becky Boyd and the Groove Trail
Becky Boyd has been playing the Cleveland club scene for over 40 years. His voice is exceptional, combining great sound and terrific feel. Boyd received the award for the best singer of the Cleveland Blues Society in 2018.
June 29: Ben Gage Band
Ben Gage is an American musician from Akron, OH. Ben grew up in the Rust Belt of northeast Ohio, spread across the countryside along Great Lake Erie. His roots run deep alongside the hard-working, blue-collar workers Ohio can boast of. That tenacity, that love of family, and that respect for a long day comes through in his music.
