American Idol winner to perform in 2022 Rose Parade
“When you come here it’s like a natural high. I love it. I love coming here,” said Ruthanne Gomez, an Inglewood volunteer. “I missed coming last year. We’ve been doing this for five years. This year we’re working on the Louisiana tank.”
For the first time, the Louisiana State Tourist Board will have a float that will descend Colorado Boulevard, showcasing their beauty, flavors and diverse culture. He will also share a message of hope.
“We took the theme ‘Dream, Believe, Achieve’ and brought it to our float. Some of these people who really made a difference during the pandemic, the hurricane, these people who really stood up for Louisiana when we needed them the most, and we are proud to have them on board our tank, ”said the secretary of tourism at Pâte Bourgeois.
The Louisiana float will also be the scene of the mid-parade performance with a performance of “Born On The Bayou” starring American idol Laine Hardy.
“Laine is from a small town in Louisiana. He won the American Idol. We’re very happy he’s a part of that,” Bourgeois said. “We will also have the Hot 8 Brass Band from New Orleans.”
And local talent will also thrill the parade. Torrance High School graduate Melany Perez won the city’s parade float design competition. His concept comes to life with his chariot entitled “The Incarnation of Nature”.
“Because in my art class we learned about endangered species. It helped me make people need to know more about these endangered species, which is why we introduced this concept because people need to know about these animals, ”Perez said.
According to Fiest Parade Floats, they struggled to recruit volunteers and are inviting people to register. Click on here for more information on volunteers.
