http://www.bighollowfc.com/cms/news.php"We have been chatting about designing a mural for our produce room. It would be painted on the long skinny [rectangular framed panels] along either side of the room (next time you’re in, scope it out). Terry [Reid] has suggested that, since we’re a co-op and all, we ought to design the thing collectively. He’d like to start taking your thumbnail sketches or written ideas and using them to compose a mural image. Feel free to pick up some scratch paper at the co-op and jot down some ideas. In the summer, once he’s had plenty of input from ya’ll, he’d also be interested in forming crews of volunteers to do the actual painting. He’ll also put the word out to Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the Cathedral House, if they’d like to participate. If you think of other groups that might want to help in the design or implementation of a community mural, contact Terry Reid at reidman8@yahoo.com."  Marla Peterson, General Manager/ Melodie Edwards Outreach Coordinator.

letter from Mike Enzi  regarding the right of artists to deduct fair market value of donated art to non-profits http://capwiz.com/artsusa/utr/2/?a=9521951&i=86647516&c=

Sometime ago NorthernFront took action on this Important Arts Issue, writing a letter to  our congressmen and women expressing our opinions; we also put up a link on our page and asked our patrons to do the same. [Please see the attached link about this important arts issue. Thanks!]

To: NorthernFront Subject: Correspondence from Senator Enzi/ Date: Thu, 13 Mar 2008 15:06

Dear Terry
Thank you for sharing your support of art through S. 548 and H.R. 1524, the Artist-Museum Partnership Act. As the Ranking Member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, I believe that the arts are an important part of a quality education and vital to an understanding of our American culture.

In Washington, I am working to increase awareness of the arts as a Founder and Co-Chair of the Senate Cultural Caucus.  Together with my colleagues I am working to encourage people across the country to get more actively involved in the arts.  There are plenty of opportunities.  There are programs being successfully run across the country that are focused on our history, our shared heritage as Americans, and the many ways we have expressed our shared culture in our literature, our paintings, in dance and on the stage.

As we continue to address arts issues, I will certainly keep your thoughts in mind.  Thank you again for taking the time to write to me about this important issue.

I want my constituents to have access to a more complete view of Congress and my activities so I have started a monthly e-newsletter.  It is a brief summary of important issues and happenings.  I encourage you to sign up on my web page at enzi.senate.gov.  You can unsubscribe at anytime.

Sincerely, Michael B. Enzi, United States Senator
