| Consultation
Prices include consultations. |
I will meet with the sitter if possible
to have some sort of insight into a person's character and
personality. I will take a series of images myself as controlling the
image is very important to me. I'll use a 35mm camera and a digital to
assure a good selection and a number of poses, as well as insuring
good lighting.
You may visit me or I can see you. I
will travel if necessary, given short notice, but cost is governed by
distance.
|
Photographs
Digital Images
|
If I use your photos, I insist on good quality images, showing with
absolute clarity of the features of the face. I would like to have as
many as possible to help me capture the personality- and barring any
problems, all will be returned.
Excellent portraits can be created from
digital images; however, they must be high resolution (.tiff or. jpg
format) supplied on a CD. I also need a printed photograph (either a
pre-printed digital image or a 'normal' photograph) showing the pose
you want. Again, the more I have for reference the better the
portrait.
|
Sizes |
Oil paintings tend to be larger. A head study around
14"x18" or so, and a full body portrait 20"x30".
For a graphite, conté crayon, or
charcoal, the size will be around 12"x14"; a full-body
(non-action) study 16"x20"+.
These sizes are just guidelines as all
commissioned portraits should be governed by pose and your personal
requirements.
|
Animals |
Animals such as horses, dogs, cats, birds, and cattle. There's an
additional charge for two or more subjects within the same portrait;
the price may be higher with elaborate collars, saddles and tack; to
include a rider [with good images] will also cost more.
|
Composition
Additions |
I will do my best to include you in the
process, asking you to view the portrait before it is completed and
ask your opinions. At that time, alterations may be made. Of course,
the finished piece is subject to your approval - if not completely
satisfied I will refund your money, but I will keep the artwork.
|
Backgrounds |
Backgrounds are an aspect of the
composition and design. Whenever possible, I'll get your input
as to the background content; however, complicated or detailed
backgrounds will add to the cost. Generally, graphite and charcoal
studies have no backgrounds.
|
Timescales |
Completing a painting depends on the medium and current work schedule.
I will present you with a timescale to fit your schedule, but I cannot
guarantee a finished project until a commission has been
confirmed in writing. Order early for Christmas.
