About the photo series "At an Artist's House"In February 2007, I visited the house of famous Russian painter Pavel Kuznetsov
(1878-1968) in Saratov, Russia. The artist was born and grew up in
this house in rural Russia. The house was reconstructed in the 1990s
and became Kuznetsov’s memorial estate. In recent years, the place has
become a center forthe creative work of local
artists. They show their work, which is integrated into the historic
interiors as wellas on the fence around the house. The attic was mostly empty
at the time of my visit, showing only an oldeasel.
Curators of the house decided to bring up some river rocks so that
visitors could be creative and havesome fun playing with them.
You can see the pictures I took during my visit in the
attic of the Kuznetsov'shouse. I called the series "At
an Artist's House".

Novikova-Kinney, a native of Russia
says, "I have been an amateur photographer since 2005. A
few years ago I became interested in photography and used a
web-camera, the only tool available at the time, to create fine art
portraits of my family members, friends, pet cat, and myself. Once I
obtained a real camera, I began taking pictures of almost everything.
I now use graphic software to turn photos into artistic images.
One of the things I like most about
taking pictures is the process that begins with an idea of what I am
going to take picture of and how the picture develops and changes to
create the final image. I usually manipulate pictures later using
Photoshop to give the pictures mood and “direction”, creating
depth and 3-d effects, stressing certain things and hiding the
irrelevant details... I hope to express an emotion or an idea through
a photograph and creating that effect is very important to me.
Photography
is a way of self- investigation, as well as examining the world and
people around me.I take
pictures of things that catch my eye – trees, buildings, people,
animals, or some random motifs. I hope that looking at my pictures
makes you happy.
