Autobiographical
Information: Bob Strayer, Boulder Ridge
Photography, Laramie , Wyoming .
My interest in
photography is entwined with my fascination for, and relationship
with the natural world. I have always, from
childhood, found peace, comfort, and renewal in the natural world,
and my spirituality is intimately based in that relationship.
This began in my experiences growing up in Iowa , and
Wisconsin where I worked on a dairy farm and explored the hardwood
forests. It continued through my experiences in
the Peace Corps, my wonderings in eastern Nebraska in the breaks
along the Missouri river, and more recently in my life in Wyoming
.
Most of my
photography is of the natural world and represents my eternally,
futile effort to capture the beauty and mystery of wild places.
Photography always fascinated me and I began to find
creative expression through it while in the Peace Corps.
There I discovered so much that was new to me. Taking
pictures helped me to see more clearly what I was experiencing
and, was an attempt to capture some of that adventure.
This continues to be the motivating force for my
photography.
I have only recently
begun to share my pictures in the public. This
is probably a natural step from the satisfaction I experience in
sharing it with friends and family. I am humbled by my experience
in the natural world and in the opportunity to share the
experience with others
